Cezar Petrescu (1892-1961) was a novelist, short story writer, translator, gazetteer and academician. Together with Lucian Blaga, Adrian Maniu and Gib Mihăescu he founded the magazine "Gândirea" (1921). He also founded the newspapers "Cuvântul" (1924) and "Curentul" (1928). He was the editor-in-chief of the unofficial newspaper "România" in 1938 and of the magazine "România literară" (1938), which were closed in 1940.
