According to the list of works which Nicolae Tonitza presented at various exhibitions, we can see that most of his works created in Mangalia were painted and exhibited in 1924-1930. Accommodated either by his friend and model Tefik, or at the Brusalis or Comino Hotels (which he and Ștefan Dimitrescu often painted), Tonitza painted and drew the coastal town, rendering its picturesque spots: Tefik's house and yard, Furoglu's eatery, the cafes, the inns, the church and the two bakeries.
