This engraving is part of the cycle dedicated by Picasso to the famous Renaissance painter and architect Raphael. Created between August and September 1968, when Picasso was 86, the series explicitly presents the sexual adventures of Raphael with his famous model Margherita Luti (La Fornarina). This is one of the 25 instances dedicated by Picasso to this subject.
