The Grateful Dead are best known for their psychedelic music and iconography, most famously the electric skull "Steal Your Face" and the suite of dancing bears known as the "Marching Bears". The bears were drawn by Bob Thomas for cover four of the band's 1973 album "History of the Grateful Dead, vol. 1 (Bear's Choice)" as a tribute to Owsley Stanley, aka "The Bear", who recorded and produced the album. The model, released in three colours (green, orange and yellow), features an image of one bear on the outside of the tongue and three bears on the insole. There's also animal-inspired detailing throughout the shoe, such as faux fur and suede lining, and a Nike Swooshcare that mimics bear collars. Another iconic symbol for the Grateful Dead, the "Steal Your Face" skull, is printed on the underside of the liner. The detail that completes the model and gives it an extra touch of personality, in addition to the vibrant colours and unique materials, is the fact that there is a pocket (with a zipper!) on the back of the tongue.
