The character from the engraving was an adventurer with pretensions of greatness, a traveler to various royal and princely courts across Europe, eager for gain. Born in Târgovişte probably in an old boyar family from Muntenia, he reached the court of the French King Louis XIV. Historian Matei Cazacu dedicated a comprehensive study to him in which he talks about the adventurous life of the character ("Dilema Veche", no. 673, January 12-18, 2017).
