In the work of Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazova, we find clearly expressed European influences. She is one of the first Bulgarian artists who, after graduating from the newly established State Painting School under Yaroslav Veshin, specialized in the Academy of the Society of Female Artists in Munich under Prof. Heinrich Knir (1862-1944). Her stay in Munich reveals new horizons to Konsulova and brings her in touch with the work of numerous European authors. Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazova primarily works in the genre of portraiture and still life. In her works, she likes to handle light - a technique associated with her impressionist pursuits. Konsulova-Vazova completed the Painting School in 1902, became a member of the Artists' Society in Bulgaria, and communicated with some of the most prominent and significant figures in the country's cultural life of the period. From 1906, Elisaveta opened a private painting school in her studio and this is the time when the artist first turned to her favorite genre - the depiction of flowers. These interests of hers develop over time and she skillfully reproduces on the canvas the tenderness, colorfulness, and various forms of the flowers. For the artist, they "are not just a reason for the compositional distribution of colored spots; they are live models, for the depiction of which she lays down, studying them individually”. Elisaveta Konsulova-Vazova is attracted to the dynamics and transience of plants, for which "great technical skill is needed to capture this fast-paced life”. For the first time, Konsulova exhibits in a general exhibition as well as independently in 1919, a year after the creation of the painting Still Life with Cacti. The exhibition is well received by the public and critics. After this event, the artist leaves for Germany. The composition in the work "Still Life with Cacti" is also intriguing. The cacti placed in a woven basket are so colorful and dynamic, and in the background - a detail from an artistic work, the so-called technique "picture in a picture", which is popular for its time among artists.
