The painter Samuel Mützner (1884-1959) travelled all over the world during the period of his artistic development, after completing his studies in the French capital. His search took him from South America to Japan. Here he spent almost three years, from 1912-1915, both in Tokyo and in the old capital, Kyoto. We have splendid works of art from the Japanese period, inspired by the people and places of this Orient little known to Romanians at the time. The photograph depicts him in front of the easel, alongside a pagoda that he captures in his work. The photograph is glued to the original cardboard of the photographic studio.
