Описание
Christian Paraschiv's intellectual journey was influenced by the highly complex socio-political context of Romania under the communist regime, by his contacts and meetings with personalities such as Paul Gherasim and Horia Bernea. By the mid-1980s, he was already a bridge between generations, an opinion shaper, an artist with a clear agenda, utilizing new analytical techniques and technologies to formulate and strengthen his artistic discourse with elements from the social and political sphere. In the early 1970s, an exhibition of American art toured across the USSR and satellite states, marking an entire generation amid an acute shortage of materials and information about Western contemporary art. Undoubtedly, Christian Paraschiv's works from those years must be connected to the impact of this exhibition on Romanian artists. The work serves a dual purpose: artistic and historical, as a material for documentation and research. The absence of any figures subtly suggests the torturous and oppressive nature of this state organism, the Securitate. A heavy silence dominates the atmosphere, serving as a premonition of events that would unfold years later. The innovative technique visually places the work in a not-too-distant past, yet one hidden in the human subconscious, like a photographic film marked by the passage of time, which we revisit
