The second period of creation (1922-1940) of Marcel Iancu is first closely related to the strong connection between the artist and Romanian avant-garde magazines, particularly "Contimporanul" and "Punct", on which he impressed an aesthetic orientation based on the ideas of Cubism, Futurism, Expressionism and Constructivism, so that later, after 1927, the artist's creation would focus more on expressivity by highlighting the visual elements resulting from the impact force of lines and the energy of colours. It is from this period that we have landscapes, interiors, still lifes, compositions with several figures, scenes of rustic life, whose artistic language brings them close to Expressionism. We can also notice novelties in the chromatic language preferred by the artist in the fourth decade. Eugene Ionescu noticed quite rightly in one of his articles in 1932, referring to the colour of the artist, that it is "spiritual and abstract, not necessarily dense, but intense" (Eugene Ionescu, "Marcel Iancu Exhibition", in "România Literară", 20 February 1932). The protagonists of his colour palette were pure white, lime-like, and fiery red, dominating the entire chromatic by their intensity, rather than their quantity.
