The poet Vasile Alecsandri (1821-1890) published in 1884, in volume form, the first edition of the play "Fântâna Blanduziei" ("The Fountain Of Blanduzia"), after it had appeared, the year before, in series form, in the magazine "Convorbiri Literare" ("Literary Conversations"). Set in the Roman Empire, the story is a beautiful love story that gives the author the opportunity to showcase his talent. The staging was a great success, with the premiere attended by Queen Elizabeth of Romania, with whom the poet collaborated. The work was dedicated to his brother Iancu, a diplomat and officer. The copy, in a very good state of preservation, retains the original vintage binding.
