The icon presents Archangel Michael down to his waist, wearing a soldier's costume. He has his right arm raised holding a sword, and in the left hand he holds the chalice near the chest, His clothes observe the pattern, but are treated more freely: a dark green shirt, with embroideries on the cuffs, over which he wears a short light green tunic, with large sleeves embroidered at the ends, and the olive-green breastplate on top of it. The long red cape is draped on his left shoulder, with an end knotted on the right shoulder His large wings are painted in olive green, and the feathers are executed in darker tones. The face of Archangel Michael, presented from the front, is oval. The traits of his face are painted in sepia, with fine brush strokes: he has big eyes, slightly elongated, highlighted by dark circles, nicely arched eyebrows, a straight nose and a small red mouth. The model of the face is executed in ochre-pink tones, up to the shadow painted in light red and light brown, at the neck and chin. The lighted parts and the light accents are painted in white. His hands are painted in the same manner. The hair, parted in the middle, falls in curls on his shoulders and back. Around the head, he wears an aura richly adorned with stylized vegetal motives made of stucco, in plain relief. The frame which encircles the icon representing the face of Archangel Michael is decorated in the same manner. The icon's background was probably silver plated, and the aura and frame of the icon, adorned with vegetal motives rigorously organised, were gold plated. The painting of the icon is very accurate and was executed by an `educated' and talented painter who studied in a workshop from Maramureș and was influenced, at that time, by the Ruthenian painting. Taken as a whole, as painting and decorative motives, the icon presents similarities with an icon of Jesus Christ kept at the Monastery "Poienile Izei", dated from the first half of the 17th century.
