He will dedicate himself to series of works in which he captures fishing vessels, boats moored at the shore or boats gently detaching from the shore, small houses with rich gardens, crowded markets or the architecture of palaces and Venetian canals. In Paris, he will end up working in Jean Paul Laurens' studio, where he will borrow from him the palette and the way of placing the brush strokes. He will develop a passion for Monet's work and delve into his inclination for pointillism. As a result of the trips he will begin to take abroad, especially in the Balkan area or Venice, he will start to create more and more painting cycles centered on the theme of Venice and water. He paints in plein air, often in urban or marine areas, capturing the fleeting effects of light. Fascinated by the reflections of water, boats and Venetian canals, all these will be captured in his works such as: "Canal in Venice", "Venice at sunset" or "Boats on the lagoon", where in these works, delicate chiaroscuro, the reflection of buildings in water and a lyrical approach to reality will be noticeably present. This is one of the most sensitive periods of his creation, where he uses a short, fragmented brushwork, with quick strokes, made in different directions to suggest the vibration of the atmosphere as well as the impression of movement and life in the water, sky and facades of the buildings. The present work, which can be dated to the period of 1925-1927, represents one of his favorite themes for these subjects, a work that captures a Venetian landscape, where in the foreground we see the water where several boats with large orange sails are floating and are reflected in the water, and in the background, buildings built in Venetian style. The forms are rendered through color, the color range being reduced to orange, yellow and blue, and where the forms built through the light colors give the image accentuated plastic qualities.
