136. Still Life with Jasmine and Quill [anii '30]

The artist attributes a meditative look on interior scenes and constantly brings still life back into the foreground of the canvas, under various variations. In this work, the emphasis is on chromatic contrast, but we also observe the inclusion of light effects directly in color. Pallady opts for a few main tones that he expresses in various variations. He will easily switch from black to gray and white, and from orange to ochre. The recurring element of his still lifes: the inkwell, appears this time naturally accompanied by the quill. Both calligraphic elements find their leisure above the white sheets. Also on the surface of these white papers is the flower vase. A symbol of love, beauty, and sensuality, the jasmine flower finds its place in art. Jasmine has inspired stories and legends over time, and the candor of the white flowers and their strong fragrance leads to the idea of ​​purity of mind and heart. The chromatic will therefore be a contrasting one, the white flowers being highlighted by the brown shades of the vase they reside in. The objects inserted in the work become clues to the artist's passions and personality, and this work is therefore a still life specific to Pallady, a conglomerate of objects that guide his creative self on the work surface.
