Rabbi Moses Rosen (1912-1994) was a prominent figure in the Jewish community in Romania. Between 1948 and 1994 he served as the Chief Rabbi of the Mosaic cult in Romania and between 1964 and 1994 as the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities. In 1957 he was elected deputy in the Great National Assembly and in 1992 became an honorary member of the Romanian Academy. His good relations with the authorities of the communist regime allowed him to develop a rich cultural activity in the sense of preserving Jewish identity, to intervene in support of Jewish emigration from Romania, and in the sense of developing collaborative relations between Romania and Israel. This letter is hand-written, dated, and signed. On the first page, in the upper left corner is the printed header of Chief Rabbi Moses Rosen. The text is a warm one, expressing gratitude to Gala Galaction and appreciation for him. The document is preserved in good condition.
