The coin is a valuable historical document, being illustrative for the evolution of the monetary system in the second half of the 15th century and for the monetary policy promoted during the reign of Matthias Corvinus. His monetary emissions played a significant role in stabilizing the currency circulation of the Kingdom of Hungary, being the result of an arduous monetary reform carried out over several years.
