The blade is produced by Moses Lewin Levin, London, a knife maker between 1855 and 1860. The Koummya dagger is a distinctive and elegant weapon with origins in the Berber and North African culture. Characterized by a narrow, curved blade with a sharp tip, the Koummya stands out for its handles often decorated with precious metals, beads, and filigree ornaments. Its unique design is meant to serve both as a functional weapon and a piece of art. These daggers are known for their deep cultural symbolism, being associated with honor and social status in North African communities. The Koummya is often worn as part of ceremonial dress and is considered a distinctive mark of high-ranking men or leaders.
