10. Stripe of Light [2000-2003]

Victor Man has a penchant for dark colours, reminding of the of landscapes of 18th-century travelling artists, who used small black pocket mirrors to transpose the desired landscape into dark key-tones. These dark tones are consistent with the sombre or melancholy atmosphere inoculated to the onlookers, where the sacred is mingled with the violent, with the mystic, or with the erotic. Entranced, the visual consumer oftentimes is left with a state of ambiguity and disorientation.
