The charter has always been in private ownership, currently belonging to a collector from Iasi, who acquired it by notarial succession, according to the notarized certificate of inheritance. Prior to this, starting in 1970, the document was in the collection of Professor I.A. from Iasi, a book collector, one of the initiators of the Museum of Literature in Iasi, as well as initiator of other museums and memorial houses in Iasi. Before 1970, the document was kept in the collection of a Romanian general, A.I., a combatant in the Second World War, decorated with the Order "Star of Romania" in the rank of officer, the Order "Crown of Romania" in the rank of Commander, the Order "Star of Romania" with swords, in the rank of Grand Officer, with the ribbon of "Military Virtue". He, in turn, inherited the document as part of the family archive from his parents. Thus, in the 1930s, the original document remained in the property of Lieutenant Constantin FÄiniÈÄ of the 14th Romanian Regiment, on which occasion he presented it to the Institute of History of Old Romanian Law (whose leader, Ètefan Grigore Berechet, full Professor of the Department of the History of Old Romanian Law at the University of Iasi, was his teacher in the 1930s - as can be seen from his article titled "An Act of 1412"), who analysed it and made a photographic reproduction (another photographic reproduction was also obtained by Prof. Mihai Costachescu, a historian and collector of Slavonic parchments). The so-called Institute for the History of Old Romanian Law, rather an academic framework for medieval Romanian historical research, organized in Iasi by Professor Berechet, had a temporary existence, but managed to communicate publicly the document thus discovered in the sole issue of the Institute's journal, âÃntregiri", no. 1/1938. The same article published by Prof. Ètefan Grigore Berechet also provides some information about the owner Lieutenant FainiÈa, presenting him as a relative of Costachi A., as well as a description of the document in its materiality: "damaged at the middle folds, measuring 42x28 cm, the seal is missing [...] shown to us with two translations: one of 1804, June 9, made by Polkovnik Paul Dobrii of the Metropolitanate". In the 1980s, the document underwent a conservative restoration, probably carried out unofficially, by professional restorers of the Iasi Museum of Literature.
