He would be part of the innovative generation from the beginning of the 20th century, and proposing new themes and techniques to the Sower trend, which he would relate to the reality in Romania. In his work, the national specificity would become an evidence that would transcend the boundaries of time, impregnating itself in its varied theme. Starting from reality, he would attempt at finding new forms of expression of the Romanian specificity. Paintings such as "Plowing", "Sower", "Shepherd with goats" or "On the lane", captured at Pianul de Jos or Curtea de Argeș would appear early in his creation, rendering authentic frescoes of the Romanian village.
