An interesting component for the painting of the period 1908-1911 is that Mützner painted in maximum resonance with the lessons received from Claude Monet - using the specific technique of the style, in the shape of juxtaposed and emphasized dots, with a restricted range of colours, almost always warm, as well as a solid construction of shapes and volumes - the end product drawing near to post-impressionism. This is all the more clear after the year 1910, when he left Monet’s workshop and enriched his palette through the new visual influx, as he travelled to Beaucaire for a while, as well as, even more importantly, to Algeria. The year 1911 brings all these new work spaces, as well as an improvement in the style of painting, particularly due to the compositional experiments. Characters start emerging in Mützner’s painting, and landscape does not disappear, but it must be reconsidered, given that the main topic is no longer nature. The response in terms of painting was the enlargement of the colour spectrum, as well as a reconsideration of the brush strokes, which is more free, less intentional, compared to the previous years, when the experiments in light subordinated the visual instance. The works created in that period were presented at Bucharest in 1912, when the Romanian critique singled out Mützner among the exhibitors of the year: "...taking his red-haired model, he went South to Beaucaire and settled in one of the poetic farms found there, surrounded by gardens with arching vines on masonry poles, where a patriarchal sort of life runs slowly. In the midst of such natural beauty, he placed his model and guests, either in the shadow of the arches, or in the sunlight, and he painted without any concern, other than colour and its poetry."

Информация от изследване

Most likely, the work participated in the Samuel Mützner retrospective exhibition at the Romanian Athenaeum, in 1912, when he presented works from his past years in France and Northern Africa. "...taking his red-haired model, he went South to Beaucaire and settled in one of the poetic farms found there, surrounded by gardens with arching vines on masonry poles, where a patriarchal sort of life runs slowly. In the midst of such natural beauty, he placed his model and guests, either in the shadow of the arches, or in the sunlight, and he painted without any concern, other than colour and its poetry."
