5. "Antim Ivireanul's Gospel" (his first Gospel in the Romanian language), from the time of Constantin Brâncoveanu, Snagov, 1697, extremely rare collection piece

The work was printed under the patronage of the lord of the Romanian Country, Constantin Brâncoveanu, with the role of editor belonging to Metropolitan Bishop Teodosie Veștemeanul. It is the first Gospel in Romanian printed by Antim Ivireanul. He is also the author of the woodcuts, two of them being signed on the Sf. Evangelists Luke and Mark's scrolls with an "A" that we also find in other documents (see "Hrisovul arhieresc" from July 20, 1715). The print is adorned with frontispieces and the four full-page engravings of the Sf. Evangelists. The same plates illustrated the "Greco-Roman Gospel", also by the printer bishop Antim; these plates were also used for other later editions and inspired some 18th-century woodcutters. The book is complete. Binding dimensions 30 x 20 cm, the book block 29 x 19 cm, text on two columns with 35 rows per column, black and red print for titles and initial letters, woodcuts: on the title page - frontispiece Deisis, Coat of Arms of Constantin Brâncoveanu on the verso of the title page, Evangelist John, on the verso of the 3 unn. leaf, Evangelist Matthew on the verso of the leaf 21, Evangelist Luke on the verso of the leaf 56, evangelist Mark on the verso of the leaf 99. Nr. pages: Shelf: C.R.V. 1009. 3 unn. l. + 180 l 28 / 19.5 cm, text mirror 23x16 cm. Leather binding on wood, hot printed with frame, evangelists in corners and Crucifixion scene in central medallion. Both covers have the same decorative structure, but cover 4 is faded. The leather covers were applied during restoration, joining with the leather spine with mechanical damage. Recording in Cyrillic about the earthquake after Leaving the Century of St. Peter and Paul made by priest Stoica, chancelor at the church ???, transliterated in Latin letters, on sheet 2 verso. Signature C-tin Popovici 1782, on the last sheet verso, with the same ink as the transliteration in Latin letters on sheet 2 verso.
