The ruler is represented standing, from the semiprofile to the left, looking frontal; the right hand, in which he holds a decree made scroll, is supported on a table covered with a brocade on which are three cards, the sceptre and the cap with panache, and the left hand is on the guard of the sword. He is dressed in a black tunic with brandemburgs, epaulettes and embroidery, diagonally with open edges, four decorations are distinguished on the chest on the left; the trousers are white with vipushka and embroidery; on the shoulders he has a cloak with fur at the top. In the second plan, the right part presents a jilt with the coat of arms of the United principalities on the back. Compared to the first print run of the lithograph printed by Joseph Lemercier in Paris in 1851, this drawing with different inscriptions, edited by G. Zion, it was printed in J. Löwy's establishment, specialized in lithography, photograph and photogravure, from Vienna. Mrs. Elena Cuza is represented standing, from the semiprofile to the right, with her head turned forward; she wears a low-cut dress with bows and lace on her lap; at the neck three strings of pearls and bracelets on both hands; her left hand, holding a chariot with the inscription ASILU / ELENA, rests on a table with carved legs placed on the right. In the second plan, the left part presents the oval back of the jilt with the coat of arms of the United principalities. Quotes from the book of Savel Manu (1824-1905) Minister of war in the reign of Cuza, published in Bacau in 1909, would indicate a dating of the portraits around this year. The lithographic inscriptions of the exemplary Cuza-Voda under the image, left: Edit. G. Sion (Bacau); right: Impr. J. Löwy, Wien; lower centre: CUZA-VODA / THE RULER OF ROMANIANS; on the right and left of the inscription 4 verses each, left: "Let the curse of the country fall / "On your ungodly heads! / "Curse and hatred! The world shall se / "The bad you have done to the country."; right: "And when you will pass into eternity / "thou shalt go forth, trembling / "On your dead brow shall be written: / "Enemies of the country, cruel sellers!"/V. Alecsandri / Reign of the Great Ruler Al. I. Cuza / by M. Savel. Lithographic inscriptions of the exemplary "Her Majesty Elena Cuza" under the image, left: Impr. J Löwy, Wien; lower centre: HER MAJESTY ELENA CUZA / THE LADY OF ROMANIANS, she stands before the sentinels: "I will see the ruler" (Night 11 Feb 5.) 1866.) / "See the ruling of the Great Ruler Alex. Ioan I. Cuza / by M. Savel, Bacau. The pieces have at the base the portraits of Carol Popp de Szathmary, artist and court photographer, in photographic form and in engraving, portraits which became the official images of the ruling couple until 1866, the year of Cuza's abdication.
