In the emotional vein of Ștefan Luchian - Nicolae Tonitza, Corneliu Baba assumed a certain relationship with Romanian (and international) modern painting. From the two Romanian masters, he would take the passion for colour. The years of apprenticeship around Tonitza and his loyalty to his painting guided him towards his picturality, which in turn had been decanted through the introspection of Luchian's art. Through the leap of an artistic generation, Baba reintroduced Luchian's famous still lifes with poppies, of penetrating chromatic quality.
