Descriere
The auction dedicated to the collection of a distinguished family of magistrates is outlined as an eclectic selection and proposes a true visual discourse dominated by light, color, and artistic refinement. The selection brings together works that are representative of the evolution of Romanian art from the first half of the 20th century to the present, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity. Among the featured reference artists are Dimitrie Știubei with his maritime compositions ("Bricul Mircea", "Facing the Waves" or "Ship at Sea"), Elena Müller-Stăncescu with her renowned still lifes ("Summer Roses" or "Autumn Preparations"), Kimon Loghi with his idyllic spring landscapes ("Sunset", "Blooming Cherry Tree" and "Early Spring"), Gheorghe Petrașcu who portrays his wife, Lucreția, as well as seaside landscapes ("Lucreția" or "At Eforie"). Samuel Mützner delights us with the beach landscapes from his travels abroad from the early '20s ("View from Puerto Rico" and "Net Fishing"), not to mention Rudolf Schweitzer-Cumpăna and Nicolae Vermont or Leon Biju. The selection is completed by the luminous landscapes of Rudolf Negely and the intimate interiors, constructed with chromatic subtlety by Antal Peczely and Imre Gergely.
