A map of Transylvania, executed by Sambucus, according to the one of Honterus, published in Basel, in the year 1532. Initially, Sambucus printed it in Vienna, in the year 1566, after which Ortelius introduced it in his reputed Atlas. Due to the deterioration of the first copper plate, a new plate was manufactured, which had its aspect partially changed, the present one being introduced in the atlas as from 1575. It is also known as the four rows map, the old one having five rows in the right-side cartouche. On the back side, a text over the history of Transylvania is printed, as well as a list of localities in German, Latin and Hungarian, drafted by Ortelius himself.
