Descriere

The second part of the Darius Vâlcov collection includes a more generous, but equally surprising, selection. It includes masterpieces signed by artists who played a prominent role in defining the history of art, traded at the famous houses Sotheby's and Christie's in London or Artcurial in Paris. Along with Andy Warhol's suite of sketches from the famous series "In the Bottom of My Garden", made before the Pop-Art era, we also find a sketch of his good friend Victor Hugo, muse for many of his projects, as well as testimonies from the time of the famous parties at Studio 54. A premiere in public auctions in Romania is represented by a suite of ceramics signed by Pablo Picasso, as well as a rare selection of pre-Columbian objects. The auction selection could not be missing the pillars of Romanian art: Theodor Aman, Nicolae Tonitza, Ion Theodorescu-Sion, Nicolae Grigorescu, alongside contemporaries Ștefan Câlția, Jules Perahim or Victor Brauner.
