Oscar Han holds a special place on the Romanian sculpture scene, especially thanks to his Interbellum activity. His creation manages to connect the styles that define, to a large extent, the modern Romanian sculptural creation. Starting from the influence of Dimitrie Paciurea, who was his teacher throughout the five years he spent studying at the School of Fine Arts (1909 - 1914), Han detaches himself from the Impressionist style which his Maestro preferred, identifying with Bourdelle's creation. Therefore, Han detaches himself from his contemporaries who were attracted by Rodin's visceral nature, adopting a language defined by simplicity and consistency, materialised, however, through monumentality. This manner is evident in Han's work immediately after the First World War, his activity on the Romanian art scene being basically defined by this very distinguished style. Both in bust-portraits and in character compositions, the artist uses a realistic baggage, moulded in vigorous and expressive volumes. As far as the current work is concerned, the nude represents one of the most praised subject matters practised by the artist throughout his entire career, being considered one of the Maestros of this genre. The bronze nude sums up all of the sculptor's conception and execution qualities. The shape is tight, assembled and consisting of converging lines, the execution being simple and massive.
