The division of the past into historical ages is a convention that very quickly moved from the scientific area into the public realm, due to practical considerations, related to a clearer and oftentimes didactic, need to gain knowledge. Knowledge materialized in studies and research, but one which, equally, underlies institutions, such as museums, and social and cultural phenomena, such as collectionism in the form of private collections. Whether we speak of the 19th century, also named the age of nations, or of the 20th century, the age of the fight between democracies and totalitarian systems, equally rightist and leftist, the past gains consistency and is understood, through the artefacts. Rare documents, such as illegal communist propaganda materials, or patents with handwritten signatures of personalities, can be found along valuable medals, items of daily use manufactured by an industry that has disappeared, or some which belonged to the dictators Elena and Nicolae Ceaușescu, bibliophilia volumes, original photographs, some of the members of the Romanian royal family, they all tell a story we invite you to discover.
