Violeta Beclea Szekely participated in two editions of the Olympic Games - Barcelona and Sydney. In Sydney, in 2000, she won the silver medal in the 1,500 m race. She was a three-time winner in the IAAF Grand Prix final, and in 2001 she won all seven stages of the Golden League. In 2001 she was nominated by international forums for the title of the best athlete in the world. At the World Championship in Maebashi, the athlete won second place in the 1,500 meter race.
