Iconographic and stylistic identification elements: The icon is a festal one and was part of the festal row of an iconostasis, of which seven are preserved in the collection. The anonymous painter also depicts in this case the scene of the Lord's Baptism, reduced to the essential elements: in the center of the composition, in the axis of symmetry, Jesus Christ, standing in the water of the Jordan, is baptized by St. John the Baptist, located on the left bank, and on the right bank he is assisted by an angel. Above Jesus' head, in the open sky, the Dove of the Holy Spirit descends. The background of the icon is painted in blue. The dominant colors are red and ochre in several shades, blue and green. Technical identification elements: The wooden support of the painting is formed from a single wood plank, reinforced with a median crossbeam. Conclusions: The painting of the icon stylistically fits within the evolution of the post-Brâncovenesc painting, practiced at the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century, with tendencies towards rusticity (A.D.).
